Wyclef Jean performs on 'American Idol'
There was hip-hop on "American Idol" Wednesday night. Perhaps in an effort to make the No. 1 show on television appeal to even more music genres, "Idol" paired a scantily clad Shakira with Wyclef Jean to perform their collaboration, "Hips Don't Lie." While the music competition showcases pop, R&B, country, rock and even crooners, it has been notoriously devoid of hip-hop, aside from the occasional joke tryout early in each season (a girl did Digital Underground's "Humpty Dance" this year). Shakira, shaking it like a belly dancer as always -- and this time dressing the part -- and Wyclef took the stage just before "Idol" hopeful Lisa Tucker was booted from the show. Wyclef, removing a coat to reveal a Fugees The Score T-shirt, interacted with all three judges as if he were trying to win some votes, serenading Paula Abdul before giving a pound to Randy Jackson and getting up in Simon Cowell's face. Despite the groundbreaking moment, don't expect any aspiring MCs to "get through to Hollywood" next season. Latest news...
