Ice Cube welcomes back 'Kotter'
Hollywood can't stop making old TV shows into movies. And Ice Cube can't resist playing the title role in one of his TV favorites, "Welcome Back, Kotter." "There was no bigger fan than me," Cube said in a statement. "I'm very excited to be able to put a new twist on it." Cube will play Gabe Kotter, the teacher who returns to his alma mater and matches wits with a group of high school troublemakers known as the "Sweathogs." The original show launched John Travolta's career and is one of many hit TV shows of the past available on a new AOL service called In2TV, which allows broadband users to stream episodes for free. Production on the new "Kotter" is expected to begin in the fall. This summer, Cube will film the "Are We There Yet?" sequel, "Are We Done Yet?" He also executive produces an FX reality show that debuted earlier this month, "Black. White." In other MC-turned-actor news, Naughty By Nature's Treach will make a guest appearance during the final season of HBO's "The Sopranos." Latest news...
